According to a 2007 CDC report Autism is the fastest-growing
developmental disability among children in the United States
!
National statistics suggest that
1 in 150 individuals is diagnosed with
Autism, making it more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and
AIDS combined! This is the reason we are ..........

"It does not matter how many times you get knocked down, but how many times you get up”
Vince Lombardi

Autism is a complex neurobiological disorder that typically lasts throughout a
person's lifetime. Few disorders are as devastating to a child and his or her
family.
It is part of a group of disorders known as Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD).
Autism is a developmental disorder that appears by 3 years of age and typically
involves problems in three major areas of development.
Autism diminishes a child’s ability to:

•        Engage in reciprocal social interactions with others.
•        Communicate with others in a manner that is typical of the child’s age.
•        Engage in a range of activities and behaviors typical of the child’s age and
stage of development.

Startling Facts:
  • New information just released by the CDC (article) new estimates suggest
that 1 in 150, NOT 1 in 166, as previously thought, individuals are affected
by autism in the United State.
  • There are almost 1.5 million cases of autism in this country alone, with 3
    children being diagnosed per hour!
  • Autism is the fastest-growing developmental disability in the United
    States!
  • In the last 10 years cases have increased 10 fold!
  • According to the U.S. Department of Education and other governmental
agencies statistics, autism is growing at a startling rate of 10-17 percent
    per year!
  • At this rate, leading Autism organizations estimate that the prevalence of
autism could reach 4 million Americans in the next decade!
  • Autism is more common than pediatric cancer, diabetes, and AIDS
    combined.

Yet, despite these alarming statistics, autism remains unknown,
misunderstood and severely under funded! Currently, there are no effective
means to prevent autism, no fully effective treatments, and no cure!

This is WHY The JT Foundation 4 Autism Awareness and TEAM 4 Autism
Awareness together with local, state and national organizations are “RACING
